Social Enterprise – is it right for you? An inspiring afternoon to find out about social enterprise and whether it is right for you or your organisation. The event will include an introductory workshop on the concept of social enterprise, case studies, discussions of its potential for you or your organisation and the opportunity for Q&A.
If you aren't sure what social enterprise is all about, or if it's right for you, things will be clearer by the end of the afternoon.
Facilitated by BCP staff member, Emma Turner and BCP board member Alan Lugton.
CEO at Nourish Enterprises & Board Director of The Business Community Partnership
Nourish Enterprises is an organisation designed to meet the needs of the community in very enterprising ways. Its community is made up of disadvantaged adults facing exclusion, barriers to employment or independent living. Nourish address their needs by providing real life activities, vocational training and support.
Alan Lugton Started Nourish in 2001 primarily as a way to provide vocational work experience for vulnerable adults while also creating sources of revenue to help sustain the project without the need for funding. With a background of over 20 years in Hospitality and Management he brought many skills to run a sustainable business.
In the 9 years since Nourish began Alan has been instrumental in turning a small community project into a flourishing Social Enterprise by developing strong partnerships to address unique issues in often creative and inspiring ways.
Emma is the Social Enterprise & Third Sector Service Manager at The Business Community Partnership. Two and half years in this role has truly developed Emma's expertise and knowledge of social enterprise, alongside working towards an ILM5 Certificate in Social Enterprise Support and other extensive continuing professional development.
Managing the city's More Than Profit Network for social enterprise places Emma in the perfect position to draw people together and to support the development of valuable and effective partnerships.
