Chamber's Smart Learning Event with Paul Hutchings & Becky Williams

Date: 19 July 2010 - Time: 2-6pm

Smart Learning is the Chamber’s educational programme for its members, with interactive events run by some of the most experienced practitioners in the art of business - from social media and marketing to PR and branding to finance and pitching.

Join us at the Jurys Inn Hotel on 19th July for…

THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE  - how to do your own research and illuminate the path to the perfect client. A half-day session with Paul Hutchings from Kindle Research and Becky Williams from Skyrocket Research.

Knowing how to build your business for greatest success can involve many possible roads, many of which are poorly lit. Proper research shines a light on reliable, high-quality insight into how your customers behave, what they value and what they want from you.

On this Smart Learning event, Paul and Becky are your expert guides on a journey of truthful discovery that will help you better position what you sell - and sell more of it. You’ll work in small groups on your own real-life examples, and with Paul and Becky’s help you’ll be able to practice and test your new research skills and get immediate feedback. You will leave the event with a sharp focus on what’s out there and how you’re going to get it.

 You will learn:

  • How to avoid making marketing mistakes based on misinformatio
  • How to find out what your customers truly value so that you can give them precisely what they want
  •  How to size your market and its potential for your business
  • Who is most likely to buy from you and how to target them
  • How to establish the most effective communication channels
  • How to save time and money by making use of existing research
  • How to design questionnaires that ask the right questions
  • How to analyse the data that comes back

You bring the questions. We’ll provide the key to unlocking the answers.

About Paul Hutchings:  Engaging, approachable and an expert at demystifying the research process, Paul has been a research professional for over 15 years, and has held senior research positions with MORI, NOP and BRMB. Today he runs Kindle Research in Brighton. About Becky Williams:  Knowledgeable, insightful and with a keen interest in research as a tool for promoting healthy behaviour change, Becky runs Skyrocket Research, a successful research agency with a client list that includes Vodafone, M&S and Visit Scotland. She combines corporate services with social research into health and lifestyle, and is a key strategic research partner for Brilliant Futures, a social marketing consultancy aimed at improving the lifestyles of children, young people and their families.

Both are members of the Market Research Society, the Association of Qualitative Researchers and the Independent Consultants Group. Between them, they will provide you with the most compelling, practical introduction to doing your own research.
