Employment Law Course

Employment law can be a ‘minefield’ of opportunity. Are you operating within existing employee legislation and are you employing the right people by ensuring you have effective recruitment and selection processes in place?

Course Description: This workshop is specifically designed to give business owners and team managers the knowledge, skill and confidence to operate effectively within existing employee legislation and to be clear on effective recruitment and retention processes. Its purpose is to offer commercial practical advice that is targeted at improving financial performance both in terms of revenue and profit.

Overview: This highly participative programme is designed to engage and inspire all attendees. Course presenters are from the practical world of industry/commerce, and will bring this critical subject to life! Jonathan Moffat is a proven HR professional; with many years of industry experience across various service sectors and is successfully running his own HR consultancy. Graham Naylor is a Retail, Hospitality and Leisure specialist, with a wealth of expertise and experience gained within organisations such as Sainsbury’s, Superdrug and Selfridges.

Outline of Course Programme: This full day programme is split into 2 modules: Basic employment law • Contracts, Terms and Conditions of employment • Temporary, Part time and Flexi working • Maternity and Paternity • Parental leave/Time off for dependence • Working time directive • Immigration, Asylum & Nationality Act - Eligibility criteria Recruitment and selection • Detailing job purpose, roles & responsibilities • Identifying Key Performance Measures • Conducting an interview • Induction programmes/Probationary periods
