Old Town Conservation Area Study Workshop
Date: 20 March 2007 - Time: 6.30pm-7.30pm
The Old Town Conservation Area was designated in 1973. It covers the area between the seafront, North Street, East Street and West Street, and includes the Lanes. It is Brighton’s historic core and has a distinct special character that it is desirable to preserve or enhance. The last appraisal of this conservation area was completed in 1979, since when there have been many changes.
In order to manage future change in a positive, sympathetic and informed way, a review of this area is desirable, including what makes it special and how it might be enhanced. Research has begun and it is hoped to complete the study this year. This is your chance to contribute to a debate regarding the future of this unique historic centre, which is so sensitive to change.
Please RSVP to Catherine Jeater by Friday March 16th 2007.
