About Us

The Business Forum

The Business Forum operates the city centre management initiative for the city. It is a company limited by guarantee and is funded by nine core funders from the business community and Brighton & Hove Council. The private sector funders are:
  • Churchill Square Shopping Centre
  • Southern Trains
  • Working Links
  • NCP
  • The Brighton & Hove Bus & Coach Company
  • City College
Substantial in-kind funding is also given by NatWest Bank, Brighton & Hove City Council and DMH Solicitors.

The Business Forum operates a number of schemes designed to make Brighton & Hove a better place to live, work and visit including the Business Crime Reduction Partnership, the Christmas Campaign and Anti Graffiti Strategy. It also manages the Business in Regeneration (BiR) capacity-building project working with small business associations, and the Mentor pilot project offering peripatetic HR support to independent retailers and hoteliers. It represents the business community on the Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT), Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership and the Regeneration Partnership.

The Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership (BHEP) is an unincorported partnership of 38 individuals representing each sector of the city's economy. Working with the local authority and the Regional Development Agency (RDA) is devises the economic strategies for the city and encourages and facilitates their delivery. It is funded by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and Brighton & Hove City Council. It has a number of action groups including the Sites Assessment Group, The Call Centre Group and the Top 20 Employers Group. It is a key consultee for all major developments in the city and responds formally to strategic planning applications. It represents the business community on the Local Skills for Productivity Alliance, and the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP),

Both the Business Forum and the Economic Partnership have additional project funding from a variety of sources including the Sussex Learning & Skills Council, Sussex Enterprise, Sussex Police Authority and Communities Against Drugs
